To the Ephemeral

To the Ephemeral:

To the cloud in the sky

And the wind on your face

To the gas in your tank

The green of the leaves

To your patience, and mine.

To balance

And order in the face of inevitable entropy.

To the rain falling overhead

The zero on your odometer

And the treads on your tires.

As the snowflake falls on her lashes.

To each night before the day, and the twilight separating.

To the position of an electron

The talks with your friends and family

The space between heart beats

The term of our leaders

And the cool of our climate,

The drink in your cup

And the tears in your eyes.

The state of your Life, the Earth, and the Universe.
